UML Gig Picks Of The Week

This event serves as a preview before the Yorkshire Sound Women Network’s presentation at the National Media Museum on March 17th. Featuring several performances which incorporate the live-coding of music, and somewhat linked to the ‘algorave’ scene. Expect drone, noise and if we’re lucky some weird visuals, all in the friendly local setting of HPBC. This is an all ages event.

 

Grimes, Monday 7th March, 7:00pm, O2 Academy, £20.35

The enigmatic Canadian singer/songwriter/artist, Grimes, will be returning to Leeds as part of the “Acid Reign Tour” in light of her latest album release, Art Angels. Known for her pop and electronic experimentation, she has received worldwide acclaim, both for her songwritting skills and production techniques. An artistic genius.

Brothers, Peter and David Brewis, are bringing their classically rock/pop sounds to Hyde Park’s Brudenell Social Club with their new album, Commontime. Having spent four years apart to work on individual projects, the brothers have come together again to produce an album that re-lives memories, conversations and touches upon political frustrations
