With only 1 month to go, it’s time to finally accept that it’s Christmas. Whilst there are some who will rejoice at the thought of dusting off the Michael Buble, for others In The Middle is here with a refreshing selection of the latest music.
1.
Azealia Banks – Chasing Time
Known for her feuds with other celebrities (Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Angel Haze to name a few) Banks finally has some more ammunition in the form of her latest record, Broke with Expensive Taste. The lead single is absolutely killer and Banks is offering $10, 000 for an official remix.
2.
Bibio – Crushed Crushed Velvet
Bibio’s contribution to ‘Touched. Two.’, a compilation due later this month to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, is reason enough to pre-order the entire album. Think upbeat, hazy, cascading beats that could be looped eternally.
3.
Speelburg – Kline
Blues-y, slick, offbeat and entwined with rich harmonies and smooth Jungle-esque vocals, it’s only a matter of time before Speelburg is a household name. ‘Kline’ is an absolutely gorgeous listen with surprises at every turn. Only Speelburg could seamlessly merge violins, piano and trumpets with synths and growling vocal harmonies.
4.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – Cellophane
Listening to ‘Cellophane’ is like falling down a rabbit hole that doesn’t seem to end. Intense, trippy, wide-eyed Tame Impala that barely gives you a second to catch your breath.
5.
Flying Lotus ft. DOOM – Masquatch
Fresh off the shelves Grand Theft Auto V offers a whole host of Flying Lotus tracks including this absolute gem. The collaboration between DOOM and Flying Lotus is, as ever, teeming with an eery brilliance – graphic lyrics over a lazy jazz bass-ine bleeding into and over a church organ.
Have a rifle through our full length playlist below featuring the collaboration between Mary J Blige and Disclosure, and the latest Bipolar Sunshine.
