Swords and a hammer are among the weapons being held in the University’s lost property store.
The Samurai and Rapier swords are amongst a number of items collected from around campus.
Also on the bizarre list of items is a metal flower and a diamond ring which also
remains unclaimed.
There are currently 23 sets of lost keys, three phones and three provisional licenses, waiting to be collected by students.
A University spokesperson said: “Details of lost property handed in to the University Security Office on Woodhouse Lane are logged on a Found Property Form.
If the owner has not come forward after two months, the finder can claim it. The spokesperson added: “Items not returned to the owner or claimed by the finder are sent to Wheatfields Hospice and are then sold to raise money for the charity.”
The University Security Office handles over 800 lost property items a year.
A source from the team which operates the Lost Property service said: “We operate an efficient system whereby students are contacted immediately if an item of theirs, such as student ID, gets handed in to us.”
