As Leeds play host to relatively few, the main highlights come in the form of Uni’s other local foe.

Travelling North East this week, Huddersfield take on Leeds in both the Men’s Basketball and Volleyball.

The Northern 2B Volleyball table places Leeds above their neighbours but only on the merit of playing two more games. Having only played once, should Huddersfield capitalise on their spare games, Leeds will find themselves falling down the table fast.

Such a game could help to shape their start to the season.

In the Basketball, however, it is Leeds who sit below Huddersfield, although they have a game in hand on their rivals, and will look to use this game to score their first points of the season.

Over at Weetwood, Leeds’ Women have had a tough start to the season, as demonstrated by a goal difference of minus 17.

Their fortunes do not look likely to improve tomorrow, as they face top-of-the-table Durham, although they did only manage a draw against our city neighbours last time out.

The Men’s Hockey also host Durham, who they sit one point behind in the Northern 1A Division.

Leeds remain the only unbeaten side in the league, however, and will hope that this stability can become a feature of their season.

The Women’s 1sts also play at home this week, although their fixture is decidedly tougher, as they face a Birmingham side unbeaten at the top of the table.

Leeds’ ladies secured their first win last week, however, and will look to push on from that 3-1 home victory over Manchester.

Finally, after a strong start to the season, Leeds’ Women’s 1st Rugby Union side have the chance to go top of the table, as they face frontrunners Sheffield this week.

A thumping 41-0 victory over Keele last time out will mean they can walk out with confidence this week.
