Tomorrow evening sees the final performance of Into the Dark, a piece devised and created by a company of final year students. This immersive environmental performance draws on a range of contemporary source material to create an extraordinary theatrical experience.
The company have been working since October using experimental devising techniques to create an interactive theatrical experience in which the audience are taken on a journey through an ever-changing scenographic environment. Exploring notions of the afterlife this collaborative project involves students from all undergraduate courses in the School of Performance and Cultural Industries and intertwines elements of lighting, sound, text, movement and projection. The audience are presented with landscapes that allow allow them to experience both the intimate and the universal and evoking resonances of the familiar whilst also introducing the unfamiliar.
Into The Dark questions not only what happens after life, but how we spend our time, here and now, in this world. This environmental performance places the audience at the centre of an intriguing journey and a memorable theatrical experience. It is an experience not to be missed!
