This Friday, our beloved music hub Belgrave Music Hall will play host to the sensual and exotic grooves of Elder Island, a three piece hailing from Bristol, making up one of the dates of a tour that celebrates the long-awaited release of some new music for the band. New track ‘Don’t Lose’ (released on the 19th of October) is the first bit of new music in nearly a year (with the exception of the odd remix), but the group have by no means lost their touch.
The track’s infectious group vocals and toe-tapping drum beats prove them to still be a strong force in this current wave of instrumentally lavish indie pop music, led by the likes of Maribou State and Tom Misch. For new listeners expect to enjoy the wonderful pairing of smooth female vocals with world music-esque textures that leave you feeling far from the dull grey ends of the UK. For old listeners and Elder Island fanatics, be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible and look forward to the terrific plucked guitar leads of fan favourite ‘The Big Unknown’ or the fathomless timbres of the more subdued ‘Bamboo’, missing out will be a big mistake.
