The faux fur, puffer or wool: you decide.

Despite the chilly weather outside we still need to find ways to look our best in this winter weather. One of the best ways to jazz up an outfit while still looking stylish is with one of the most used items in any winter wardrobe: a coat. We take you through the pros and cons of three classics: the faux fur, puffer and wool coat.

Although not always the warmest of coats, the faux fur is a great way to incorporate colour and flair into any dull winter outfit. It is easy for a faux fur coat to look cheap, but that doesn’t  necessairly mean you have to spend a lot in order for it to look good. Below are three options that don’t break the bank but still look great. The first is from Topshop at £89, the combination of colours in this jacket really make it exciting, but the quality and cut of the coat retains an element of class. Next is a cropped coat from Miss Pap at £60, the dusty lilac colour is vibrant and the softness of the fur provides warmth and protection, making it perfect for cuddling up in the winter. Lastly is a slightly longer number from Misguided at £120. Although the price tag is slightly higher than the other two coats, the extra length adds more protection on cooler days. The dark emerald colour is much more exciting than black, further giving this coat its rightful place on our list.

Now on to one of the most practical and comfortable coats you can own: the puffer. They’ve been around for years, but brands are still managing to add their own unique touch to this versatile coat. Firstly, we have one from Tommy Hilfiger that comes in red (as well as white and navy blue) for £270. This is a more expensive option, however it comes with real down inside which is guaranteed to keep you warm, along with a soft removable jersey hood that can be used for extra style and warmth! Second is a bright orange puffer from & Other Stories retailing at £125. This is the perfect coat to add colour to an outfit whilst still keeping warm (the coat is also made with down). Last but not least is another super bright puffer from Topshop, retailing at £65. At the lower end of the price ladder, the puffer still manages to remain just as cool with its contrasting colours and triangular design.

Finally: the wool coat. These are most appropriate for more dressy occasions, however they can also make any casual outfit look that bit more stylish and put together. First up is a wool trench coat from &other stories for £165, its fitted cut making this coat suited to all body types. Next is a super cute double breasted coat from Topshop for £95. Although the pattern is quite busy, the muted colours along with the small check make it a bit more versatile and practical than a statement piece. Last off we have we have an aqua coloured wool trench coat from & Other Stories. The sea green colour is bold, making it a perfection transition piece into spring.
