TREND ALERT: The rise of the red boot

Red boots are set to be one of the biggest trends of 2018, featuring in collections from Fendi, Victoria Beckham and Valentino in their A/W17 collections. As red fought its way into being winter 2017’s most popular colour, bringing an edge and sense of daringness into any old outfit, the red boot is sure to add a bit of rock ‘n’ roll to your wardrobe. Whether they are thigh-highs, ankle boots, kitten, block or stiletto heels, these intense bursts of brilliance are everywhere, and it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere anytime soon! Red might seem a bit scary for the less adventurous fashionistas amongst us, but it can be a pretty versatile colour if you know what you’re doing.

The obvious choice would be to match this bold colour with a more neutral outfit, with many people opting for black, like Alex Stedman, The Frugality‘s, lifestyle blogger, or light jeans to compliment the bright red. But the recent trend of clashing patterns and colours has led to these gorgeous shoes being worn with pinks, oranges and any kind of 90s kitsch design.

Whilst these boots have been mainly featured in runway shows over the past months, the high-street offers a number of affordable, but equally stunning options. Some of my favourites are: Topshop patent ‘Mighty Ankle Boots’, which are currently on sale for £55, so grab them while you still can! And if you prefer less shine on your shoes, River Island offer Red Leather Block Heel Ankle Boots for £80, which might be a stretch for the ol’ student budget, but sometimes you’ve just got to treat yo self (or persuade your parents that they are too beautiful not to be owned!)

Whatever pair you decide on, these boots are made to be bright and brave, so wear these beauties with your head held high!
