The top 10 outfits of 2017

As 2017 comes to a close, it’s time to look back and evaluate the year. Let’s be honest, in many respects it’s not been great and I know a lot of people aren’t going to miss it. In the fashion world, however, it’s been fabulous.

Alexa Chung

Let’s start with the ‘It Girls’. These are the first ladies of fashion. They’re young, they’re cool and they decide what you wear. Alexa Chung is one of the most iconic. In my opinion, she can’t put a foot wrong when it comes to fashion. With this outfit that she wore to the Museum of Modern Art Film Festival, she gave her seal of approval to the biker girl/ pretty girl hybrid look that has been so popular this year. Pairing delicate ruffles with some sexy leather she adds a feminine touch to a cool and edgy look.

Jordan Dunn

Speaking of ‘It Girls’, one of the best places for them to flaunt their style is Coachella. This year Jordan Dunn stole the show with this cute and casual festival outfit. The definition of ‘if you’ve got it flaunt it’, her legs look incredible in these super small shorts, paired with her gorgeous flowing hair, this look perfectly reflects the easy-going vibe of the festival.

Kendall Jenner

One of the bolder choices in fashion this year was made by Kendall Jenner at the Met Gala. This mesh number from La Perla stirred up its fair share of controversy but, for me, this is the most iconic 2017 outfit of this list. She rocks the haircut of the year, the ‘lob’ (long bob), with a futuristic combination of a bodysuit and mesh work, two of the biggest and best trends of the year, and she looks incredible.

Kim Kardashian

Keeping with the Kardashians, Kim also stood out at the 2017 Met Gala. Kim’s had a bit of a rebirth in terms of her image this year, focusing on motherhood. Her social media has become far more understated, as have her outfits. Can you imagine her wearing this gorgeous Vivienne Westwood gown ten years ago? Beautiful, graceful and modest, Kim’s curves are still highlighted but the look feels much more sophisticated.

Pippa Middleton

From one famous family to another, this year saw Pippa Middleton tie the knot with James Mathews. She took after her sister Kate in a beautiful white lace gown, created by Giles Deacon. It was a dress fit for a Princess (or her sister, at least).

Emma Stone

When it comes to Hollywood royalty, Emma Stone stole the screens with her incredible performance in ‘La La Land’. The film featured many gorgeous outfits, but the one I’m talking about is the Givenchy Haute Couture dress that she wore to the Oscars. Inspired by the roaring twenties, Emma Stone is reminiscent of a starlet from Hollywood’s Golden Age.

Rihanna

Rihanna has also had a brilliant year in fashion. All her red carpet looks have been breath-taking but her street style has really stolen the show this year. She stepped out in this amazing Dolce and Gabbana kaftan in New York. The beautiful colourful pattern is dazzling.

Yoyo Cao

Fashion week always brings great street style. At Milan this year, Yoyo Cao wore Gucci and looked effortlessly cool. Oversized pants were a major trend this year and, paired with the studded jacket, she looks flawless.

Cate Blanchett

Another key trend of 2017 has been androgynous style. Cate Blanchett wore this loose-fitting suit by Givenchy and Paris Fashion week. The hard lines of the blazer are softened by her tousled locks, with the mesh top and open-toed boots keeping the look perfectly on-trend.

Kate Moss

Can you have a best dressed list without Kate Moss? No you can’t. Here she is rocking a Topshop jumpsuit at London Fashion Week. 2017 was a great year for jumpsuits, with many major brands and designers giving us their take on the look. In fact, this year saw the first time jumpsuits were permitted in the Royal Enclosure at Ascot. Ms Moss’ jumpsuit paired with suede boots certainly deserves a royal approval.
