The 8th and 9th of September are certainly dates to put in the diary. The heart of UK arts, London’s Southbank Centre , will be accommodating an array of artists from Erased Tapes Records, as part of the label’s ten-year anniversary celebrations. The last ten years have seen the London-based label spearhead a global community of avant-garde musicians, unveiling talent from locations far and wide, with an ever-increasing diversity of styles.

So, what amazing music will there be on offer?

The two-day celebrations begin on the Friday with an ambient showcase featuring Nordic electronica duo Kiasmos, comprised of BAFTA-winning Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds and Faroese electro-pop artist Janus Rasmussen, as well as Brooklyn-based minimalist jazz outfit Dawn of Midi. Friday performances also include soothing singer-songwriter Douglas Dare and award-winning film composer Michael Price, before the afterparty presents Erased Tapes’ very first signing, experimental electronic artist Rival Consoles.

The Saturday displays even more talent in the form of Ukrainian piano virtuoso, Lubomyr Melnyk, renowned for his unique ‘continuous’ piano style, whilst Japanese vibraphone player Masayoshi Fujita displays his expansive instrumental techniques. The celebrations at Southbank draw to a close with a big blowout: Peter Broderick & Friends are set to evoke all kinds of emotion with their Cage-influenced reflections; whilst Penguin Café, building on African, South-American and minimalist influences, exhibit their unique and genre-transcending music.
