McDonalds delivery is coming to the UK

Paul Pomroy, the McDonald’s UK Chief Executive, announced that the company will be trialling a delivery service for the first time in June for selected cities across the country.

Speaking to Sky News, Pomroy said that it’s obvious that customers “want McDonalds to look at delivery”. In the interview, Pomroy mentioned the growing delivery market. This move follows continued profit increases for companies like Just Eat, Deliveroo and Hungry House.

A McDonald’s app will launch alongside the service specifically for delivery. It’s now unclear how much the service will cost or whether pre-existing delivery companies will be used for the service.

Whilst the cities that will be trialled have yet to be mentioned speculation falls that Leeds alongside other major cities like London and Manchester will be a part of the programme.
McDonald’s already bolsters delivery services in Asian countries such as Singapore and South Korea. Alongside the UK announcement comes plans to expand into other trans-atlantic countries such as the US, Canada, France and Germany.
