Preview: LUUMIC Charity Fundraiser @ The Library 15/3/16

Come down and join the party with LUUMIC and Leeds Music Trust in an exciting collaboration to help raise funds in an amazing new project to create a safe and creative space for young people in Leeds!

Leeds Music Trust was established in 2009 by Old Chapel Music Studios and patrons Kaiser Chiefs to help local young musicians develop their skills, and assist disadvantaged groups with access to professional studio time, mentoring, teaching and equipment hire.  Since then LMT has sourced and raised funds to subsidise over £50,000 for its beneficiaries, and built a team of like-minded music professionals with extensive networks to pass on their expertise to the next generation of Leeds musicians. In a time where the arts are facing drastic cuts  in schools, with some schools having no music budget at all, the work done at Leeds Music Trust is vital for  giving young people an opportunity to explore and excel in their creative interests.

LUUMIC (Leeds University Union Impact in the Community) is a society which uses music and volunteering to help within the local community.

The night will consist of a fantastic line-up with some of the best bands around, including Leeds freshest indie band Marsicans, the enigmatically captivating Tarq Bowen Band from London, LUU’s own Jazz and Blues Society and from the Leeds University Music department Salt and the Peppers. To accompany this fine array of music will be a quiz, auction of promises, stalls and a raffle with fantastic prizes up for grabs, including 6 hours worth of free recording sessions at Czar Street Studios, Nando’s gift vouchers, a bottle of prosecco plus many more!

Tickets prices start from a minimum of £3 donation. Any money raised from this event will help fund teaching and mentoring for young bands in the school holidays.

The Facebook event can be found here.
