A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape. This in connection with an incident that took place on the ring road at Beeston Park. According to a statement from West Yorkshire Police the arrested man “is currently in custody”
The incident took place at around 6.30am on the 13th December. Police said that the 23-year-old victim entered what she thought was a taxi in the city centre after having been out for the night.
The driver stopped the car by a ring road in Beeston Park. He then got out of the car, opened the passenger door and punched the victim, before attempting to sexually assault her.
The victim fought back and managed to get out of the car. The car then drove off towards Middleton via Gypsy Lane.
Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of Leeds CID, said: “This was obviously a frightening experience for the victim and she is being supported by specially-trained officers.”
