Selected provided a night of underground music, from Lady Sanity, Dialect, and Weezy Jefferson who provided the grime and hip hop front, to Empress Imani whose soulful rendition of ‘Am I Wrong’ had everybody up and dancing. We were treated to the world premiere of Lady Sanity’s new song, something not even Radio 1xtra had got their hands on, showcasing just how successful both the night and LSR are themselves. There was almost a concert atmosphere to the night whenever an act played, giving the night a certain uniqueness yet to be found in Leeds. One minute everyone was in formation watching the acts intently, the next everyone was perfecting their Leeds skank to the old DJ tracks – we even got treated to a Craig David track, classic.

The best thing about the night was how they brought in local and surrounding talent, as well as showcasing our very own DJ talent within. With the entire night being organised and run by LSR, acts being presented by the voices of our radio shows and with unbeatable back to back DJ sets from our very own Leeds DJ’s, it couldn’t have been a more meaningful night for the heart of LSR themselves.
