If you’re at a loss of where to spend the August bank holiday, look no further than The Tetley. Located in the historic former headquarters of the Tetley Brewery right in the centre of Leeds, the building is now used as a centre for contemporary art exhibitions and events. This summers festivities brings Leeds’ Garden Party to this remarkable building; those familiar with The Faversham’s annual summer blowouts will be pleased to hear that it’s tenth birthday celebrations are their biggest party to date. Collaborations with The Warehouse Project, Canal Mills, Drop the Mustard, Now Wave and Eat Your Own Ears suggests that Notting Hill is not the only place to be come bank holiday weekend.
What’s even more exciting is that it’s not just about the music; although boasting a line up formed with the likes of Little Dragon, Joy Orbison and Bicep to name just a few, The Garden Party have teamed up with Leeds Indie Food to keep everyone fed and watered over the weekend. Anyone familiar with independent food and drink outlets in Leeds will have heard of Leeds Indie Food. After curating a hugely successful food festival in May involving over 100 independent food ventures, also held at The Tetley, who else could have been chosen to provide the taste of Leeds to the sound of Leeds.
Food featuring over the weekend includes Leeds independents Fish&, Röla Wala, Northern Bloc, Bahn Mi Booth, Boozy Q BBQ, Pizza Fella and Sela, all to be washed down at the Craft Beer Bar or Cocktail Shack. Early recommendations would be an authentic wood-fired pizza from Pizza Fella, served from their van which you may recognise from frequenting outside of the Trinity. For those with a sweet tooth, Northern Bloc will provide homemade ice cream to keep it cool in what hopefully will be the return of the August sunshine. Music or food and drink, we can’t wait to try the very best of what Leeds has to offer over the weekend.
