Looking for a way to fill the cold winter evenings? Stage Musicals Society brings you entertainment to help you dance away those chills. In connection with Back Stage society, their production of Guys and Dolls is running from the 2nd-6th December in the Riley Smith Hall.

Set in 1950’s New York, Guys and Dolls centres around a group of gansters and their girls as they place bets and avoid the local police. Nathan Detroit is losing his grip and struggling to host his ‘crap game’, much to the frustration of the gansters waiting to play. He bets his friend Sky Masterson £1000 dollars to take Sarah Brown, a salvation army girl, on a date. Through a mixture of toe-tapping tunes, the characters manage to help each other to achieve their aims and find a happy ending.

Stage Musicals Society’s Guys and Dolls is directed by Jessica Price, with Harry Style as Musical Director. The team have been working hard for three months to create show stopping routines to popular songs such as ‘Luck be a Lady’, made famous by Frank Sinatra. It promises to be a spectacular run of performances and is a show that cannot be missed.

If you were lucky enough to see their show ‘Cabaret’ earlier in the semester, or happened to see our preview, then you’ll know that you’re in for a treat. Who doesn’t love the catchy tune of ‘Sit down, you’re rocking the boat’ that was performed then as a sneak preview?

Tickets are on sale now and can be found either in the Union Foyer or through Leeds Tickets. Prices vary: £6.50 for concessions, £8.50 for adults and £12 for VIP tickets (includes priority seating, a programme and drink at the interval). Door open from 7pm with show starting at 7:30pm.
