A student at Leodis Residences has been confirmed dead.

Police were called to the student halls on North West Road at 7.40pm on Friday following ‘a call of concern for a man there’.

The body of a 20-year-old male was discovered by emergency services, who confirmed that he had died at the scene.

A statement from West Yorkshire police said: ‘There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances’ surrounding the death.

Describing the scene on Friday night, one student tweeted: ‘Two fire trucks, three ambulances, three police cars and a CSI truck, Leodis this is crazy’.

Another Leodis resident told LS: ‘There were about seventy or eighty people crowded round. I couldn’t tell what was happening. It was really weird and scary’.

Students have taken to social media to express their shock and condolences, with one tweeting: ‘Such a sad night for everyone in Leodis, thoughts going out to the family, friends and flatmates’.
