Luke Sital-Singh – a singer-songwriter who has recently been long listed for BBC’s Sound of 2014 poll – is playing as part of the ‘New Faces’ tour. The night is organised by Communion, who are famously founded by Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons. Luke shares the stage with Annie Eve, Farewell J.R and Eliza and the Bear, all excelling in their genres. It is obvious from the beginning that this will be an evening of high quality music, very carefully selected. The gig takes place in Holy Trinity Church – an unusual choice but it makes for an even more unforgettable event.

Luke’s set begins with ‘I Have Been a Fire’, a song which grows from a delicate, peaceful beginning into a powerful sound that captures the audience’s attention immediately. It is followed by ‘Greatest Lovers’ – Luke’s newest single which is much more upbeat and the type of song that has the potential to achieve mainstream success, an obvious highlight for the crowd. The remainder of the half hour set not only contains seemingly effortless vocals in slower songs, but also provokes uncontrollable feet tapping within the audience during more upbeat melodies. By the end, it is evident that regardless of who each member of the audience came to see, Luke Sital-Singh has made a lasting impression on them all. Their reaction proves exactly why the songwriter deserves all of the success that he has been tipped for in the next year.
