A female student was locked inside the Edward Boyle for over an hour last Friday.
A second year English student, told LS he had come to drop off some books at 8pm unaware the library was closed when he noticed the girl on the other side of the glass doors, trying to get out, as the alarm sounded.
He spoke to Union Security officers, and claims they informed him of a similar incident that had happened the week before. The eyewitness said: “It’s pretty terrifying for someone to find themselves in this situation.”
He added: “The lights were off inside the building and she looked really concerned. I immediately ran up to the IT department who were unaware of what was happening. They all had their headphones in so didn’t even hear the alarm going off.”
