This Wednesday, Leeds will see a collaboration of two music leaders that are celebrated staples in the Leeds underground scene for the student masses: the coming together of Flux and Mint Club. Flux, one of the UK underground leaders in disco, house and techno, is celebrating its 3rd birthday at the legendary space that has provided over a decade’s worth of musical majesty to the city.
After only three years in the business, Flux’s vibrant and dynamic approach to the scene saw it nominated last year for DJ Mag’s ‘UK’s Best Club Night’, and has seen its brand progress rapidly from a small one-off charity night at Wire (Leeds) to a full-on festival tour that will see them exporting their brand to Dimensions, Beacons and Ibiza this Summer.
Alongside bringing celebrated artists such as Todd Terje, Storm Queen and Crazy P to the decks (to name a few), this year Flux will also continue to push other projects such as their agency start-up, which will manage artists such as Dan Shake (recently signed to Moodymann’s Mahogani label). With three years worth of highly successful events from Leeds to London and the launch of their own blog, it’s safe to say that Flux are making a shift from being a standard club night to a musical institution in its own right.
Let’s take a look at some key events from Flux over the past three years that have cemented their reputation as underground club pioneers :

Flux & Dilation present Snowbombing Launch Party
January 24th, 2014
Beaver Works
Flux’s first event of 2014 collaborated with Dilation and brought in Berlin trio ItaloJohnson, Rose Records, M.ono and Luvless.
There is no doubt that Flux has accomplished a great deal since its inception just three years ago. Their meticulously programmed line-ups and popular resident DJs have gained them a fiercely loyal following, whilst surviving the ebb and flow of an annual student turnover. This year they plan on continuing to curate some of the best parties Leeds has to offer, as well as further establishing their venture onto the London circuit. Alongside other seminal nights in Leeds such as Louche, Monocult and Basics, Flux have easily rivalled other music hubs across the country such as those of Manchester and London and continue to change the city’s musical landscape in positive and influential ways. There’s a buzz, an energy, that lives in the city and it could not be a more perfect time to be a student here.
