After an exhilarating first week and a half of speed, snow and controversy at Sochi 2014 there are still plenty more events to look forward to. Here’s when and what to watch.

Monday

The weeks action continues with one of the more popular sports of the games, as the two man bobsleigh competition continues. Only a true sports anorak would catch all the action from an early start (5am). While arguably the most physically challenging sport at the Games continues, everybody’s favourite sport Curling reaches its 12th session.

For those who prefer something a bit faster than paint drying, swift relief can be found in the form of the Women’s Ice Hockey Semi-Finals starting from 12.30. Towards the evening the finals of Men’s ski jumping and snowboarding are not to be missed.

Hipster sport of the day: Women’s Biathlon from 3pm

Tuesday

For the early birds the women’s Alpine Skiing giant slalom (7am), followed by the men’s skiing half-pipe final at around 5pm. The highlight of the day comes from the Nordic Combined – we’re not entirely sure what this actually consists of but will enjoy finding out. After a quick google search it appears to be a 10km cross country race.

If that wasn’t enough excitement for a Tuesday the Women’s 3000m final between 10.54 – 11.14, and not a second later, should compensate, as will the men’s 10,000m speed skating.

Wednesday

A sport-packed day, as expected from an Olympic schedule. The women’s Bobsleigh finishes around 6pm. The curling reaches the semi-final stage, with the Ice hockey at the quarters. If that wasn’t enough, both the Women’s and Men’s Team Sprint Classic Final gets under way – at the very least these four words in any combination that should not be missed.

Thursday

Possibly one of the most exciting days of the tournament, depending on whether your country is competing, but there are certainly lots of medals up for grabs. At last the women’s curling final is upon us, finishing around 4.30pm. Other individual events include the ladies free figure skating and skiing half pipe.

Team sport event of the day is the women’s Ice hockey final at the Bolshoi arena (preceded by the bronze medal match).

Friday

Friday is the men’s turn for finals in the curling and the much anticipated Ice Hockey final, can hosts and favourites Russia win Gold? Apparently the Ice hockey is the medal Putin most craves, whether they make it or not it will be a fascinating game.

For the arm chair adrenaline junkies there is more skiing and skating than you can throw a snowball at. Ladies Alpine skiing, biathlon, freestyle skiing, short track skating and of course more speed skating, it is all happening.

British Interests:

Team GB set themselves a target of winning 3 – 7 medals at Sochi, and at the time of writing Britain have two (Lizzy Arnold’s gold and Jenny Jones’ Bronze). The medal chances this week come from the curling, as Eve Muirhead and David Murdoch have a chance to lead their teams to victory.

Both the men’s and women’s teams lasted tasted success in the 2002 games at Salt Lake City.
