It’s been a tough start to the season for Leeds 1sts in the Rugby Union, and 2014 has not brought any better fortune to the side thus far, following defeat to Loughborough last week.
Still, as Newcastle are poised to visit Weetwood on Wednesday, Leeds will fancy their chances against the side sitting just one place above them in the Premier North A Division. Following five straight defeats in the league, the men will be looking to get off the mark for the first time this year.
Over in Rugby League, fortunes could not contrast much more in the league. Sitting on top of the Northern 2B Division, an astronomical goal difference leaves Leeds poised for promotion.
Therefore, when Division 2A Bangor visit on Wednesday, this test could be a taste of things to come next season for Leeds, should they seal promotion. While Bangor sit bottom of their division, they will possess the quality to potentially hurt Leeds, and a victory for Leeds would only prove their title credentials.
In the Women’s Volleyball, Leeds have the opportunity to put breathing space between themselves and bottom placed Sheffield Hallam, when they visit on Wednesday. A win would all but seal Leeds’ place in the Northern 2B for another season, and so a win here could be crucial.
However, in our match of the day is the Championship clash between Leeds and Exeter in the Badminton. The Premier North and South sides have both been struggling in the league thus far, and the knock-out tournament would provide a real boost to whichever side progresses, with a place in the quarter finals up for grabs.
