A male thief unsuccessfully attempted to steal two bottles of vodka from the Old Bar last Saturday.

The thief grabbed the bottles from behind the bar but dropped one
before making his escape.

He was chased up the stairs by a member of the Old Bar’s staff who jumped over the bar and tried to catch him. The male only managed to reach the main Union foyer before being apprehended by security at the Union entrance.

He was eventually brought back down to the bar to pay for damages and was given a warning by managerial staff.

One student who witnessed the incident told LS: “I was shocked to see a guy jump over the bar at the end with a bottle of vodka. I’ve never seen a barman move so quickly to catch them.”
