Over 1,500 students were admitted to A&E at Leeds General Infirmarylast semester, LS can reveal.
Following an Freedom of Information (FOI) request submitted by this newspaper, it has been revealed that October was the peak month for students being hospitalised last year, with 491 A&E admissions.
Over 16 per cent of students’ visits to A&E for the whole year took place during the Halloween party period.
September and May were the second and third highest months for student injuries and emergencies, respectively. 390 students were admitted to A&E in September, including during Freshers’ Week, while 385 were hospitalised during May, during the post-exams celebration period. The FOI also reveals that during June, July and August student admissions to A&E
were lowest.
Almost 10,000 non-students aged 18-25 (who listed their occupation as “other”) were admitted to A&E last term.
