Hundreds of students have tested for chlamydia as part of the ‘Pee for Victory’ campaign.
The campaign found that 72 per cent of Freshers have never been tested for STI’s. Students who signed up received a test kit by post, completed the test at home and were informed about their results via text.
Welfare Office Charlotte Warner told LS: “My aim for the year is to get people talking about sexual health more and I think this has started that”. She added that, although the campaign was a success, students still regard the subject of sexual health as “taboo”.
Public Health England estimates that 1.7 million young people were tested for chlamydia last year, with 8 per cent of tests being STI positive
