Music | Preview – Dub Pistols

This evening Leeds University Union will host the celebrated hip-hop, dub and big beat band Dub Pistols at their smaller ‘underground’ venue ‘Mine’. After winning DJ magazine’s prestigious ‘Best Live Act of 2011’ award, Dub Pistols are unquestionably one not to miss on tonight’s agenda. Founded by ex-club promoter Barry Ashworth, the band have accumulated an array of hits over their 17 year reign, ranging from singles ‘There’s Gonna Be A Riot’ and ‘Best Got Better’, to remixes of Ian Brown’s ‘Dolphins Were Monkeys’. With a distinctive sound that has naturally evolved into their most recent work, Worshipping The Dollar, which has been praised as an energetic combination of musical retreat with powerful and prominent political messages, Dub Pistols may just give LUU one of their greatest performances yet.
