For menswear this Autumn/Winter it’s all things Americana, and what could embody that more than a Varsity jacket? The sports luxe trend isn’t a new one, but this season focuses on experimenting with fresh textures, colours and patterns. Designers such as Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen have led the way with block colours and contrast sleeves; however the more adventurous among you could look to the likes of Moschino for pattern inspiration.

Alternatively, a popular example of the classic athletic style is the Saint Laurent monochrome Varsity, recently spotted on an array of famous faces. Highstreet options of this traditional style are filling the rails at Topshop and River Island, but if you’re worried you’re looking a little too ‘Glee’ for your own good then avoid sports logos and opt for plainer or all black options as seen at Calvin Klein. Choose thicker leather and wool based jackets to stand up to even the harshest Leeds winter whilst staying on trend, plus the Varsity is a great choice for when the cold really sets in as its ideal for layering. If you want all the attention on one piece however, try pairing contrasting textures like the all black velvet/leather asos jacket. Perfect for daring dressers; but be warned the colour is the only low-key thing about these jackets, bang on trend but certainly not for the faint hearted.
