The Union has had dozens of lost umbrellas stolen this week.

The plan to help students battle the rain by hiring out umbrellas from lost property fell flat when “only a couple” were returned, according to Helpdesk Co-ordinator Anna Nixon.

Third year History student, Daniel Nunes-Vaz, commented: “it’s really annoying that people haven’t been returning the umbrellas because it would be so useful.”

The scheme is expected to continue into the winter months, providing students return the borrowed umbrellas. A selection of designs is available but Anna noted that “boys tend to just take the black ones.”

The Union is urging students to return the umbrellas when they are dry.
