Leeds’ annual test of strength and stamina will hit campus on March 13.
The Adamson Bequest, the thirteenth of its kind, is open to all University of Leeds students, who must compete to be crowned the Fittest Male and Female students on campus.
The grueling test consists of a bench press and a leg press for the strength portion, followed by a 50m shuttle run for speed, and a bleep test to test candidates’ stamina.
The competition is free to enter and winners of each gender will receive cash prizes: with £300 for first place, £150 for second and £50 for third.
The winning man for the last two years running was Christian Rees-Cooke, with Pearl Davison taking the trophy last year for the women.
Both champions have since left the University leaving the competition “wide open” this year.
Impressive feats last year included Rees-Cooke’s bench press of 155kg and Davison’s 260kg leg press.
The Graham Adamson Bequest was introduced as the result of the generosity of Graham Thomas Adamson, former Director of Physical Education at the University.
Students interested in taking part, can pick up an entry form from The Edge or from www.leeds.ac.uk/sport
