Single Girl Style Icons

Cara

As V-day approaches and girls divide in to separate single and taken cliques, its easy for those without a special someone to feel a little un-empowered. More so than ever is this the case now that our favourite spinster style icons have all settled in to convention. Carrie Bradshaw ended up with Mr Big, The Man Repeller got married last year, and Kate Moss and Sienna Miller have both popped a sprog! Is single really going out of fashion?

Fear not, single girls, as there is a new wave of singletons with kick-ass style credentials to restore your faith in girl power. Shove the gushy romance and look to Jennifer Lawrence and Cara Delevingne. It-girls in fashion and no longstanding beau, amen. Or, if you’re looking for someone to replace the Carrie-shaped hole in your heart, look no further than Zooey Deschanel. Hitting our screen as Jess on the ‘New Girl’, we are currently lusting over her dorky, kitschy wardrobe full of dress, cardis and mismatch accessories.

Cara Delevingne

She’s just graced the cover of Vogue, won Model of the Year, took centre stage in a Burberry campaign and has Rita Ora on speed-dial, yet Cara Delevingne’s style remains effortless and laid back. Working a sort of non-fashion fashion, most of the time you’ll find the Brit model in a beanie hat, a Burberry Prorsum leather jacket, skinny jeans and high top trainers- teamed with a fresh face, smokey eyes and of course, her signature heavy brows. Give or take the Burberry, we can recreate that, right?

Jennifer Lawrence

Another icon on the rise, another single lady. Hollywood’s hottest right now, Jennifer Lawrence is fast becoming one-to-watch on the style front. Whether she’s shocking critics by wearing neon pink on the red carpet, channeling glamour in vintage Dior, or keeping it casual in a jersey maxi, she rarely puts a foot wrong, sartorially speaking. She’s rarely seen out of a dress – be it ball gown, sundress or shift – so girly-girls take notes and look to Lawrence for polished, perfect style.

Zooey Deschanel

Finally, the quirky, unlucky in love, Jess Day from ‘New Girl’ has fast become our favourite character on TV. Relatable, real, and hilariously honest, her quirky wardrobe is just as much girl-next-door as her attitude is. Working colourful, retro-inspired looks with mismatched elements, she makes being a dork totally cute and socially acceptable- which is never a bad thing in our eyes.
