The Week in the Life of Scott Sinclair

Scott Sinclair being unveiled at City

LS Sport Editor’s Joe Bookbinder and Hugo Greenhalgh take a peek into the diary of Manchester City footballer Scott Sinclair. With his girlfriend, Helen Flannagan stuck in the I’m a Celebrity Australian jungle, it’s been an interesting week for City’s latest ‘star’…

Monday – Started like any other day really, I get into training half an hour early just to make sure I don’t get refused entry into the first team dressing room again, that was embarrassing. On my first day, me and Richard Wright were sent to the reserve training ground, thankfully it was all a mistake, although I haven’t seen Wrighty since… As I walk past the gym Micah is already there, of course, not sure he has left since last week. J-Lo is there too, although his head is stuck in the door. Kolo’s in the canteen, I guess that diet plan has been put on hold.

Tuesday – Helen has been gone for over a week now, I’m beginning to miss her, although unfortunately I have to see her on TV every night making a fool of herself. At least I get to mute her, that is a massive improvement. I trained really well today, don’t want to brag but scored a few goals, including a stunner which put Zlatan to shame anyway. Joe Hart is not a happy man right now, although his form should improve now that Mario has been told to stop putting butter in his gloves.

Wednesday –RESULT!! Mancini says I’m “the new and improved Adam Johnson”, high praise indeed! In fact I am starting in the next match!! Although it is only Macclesfield Reserves away. Turns out it was only David Platt in a Mancini mask. I really feel like this is my big break – just look how good Jack Rodwell is doing. Arguably our best player this year, with four goals and seven assists…

Thursday – We have a team meeting in preparation for the Aston Villa home game this Saturday. With all the players, kit men, translators and Noel Gallagher, crammed into the video room, it’s a big squeeze to get everyone in. I have to sit on Yaya’s lap as there are no more seats available.

Friday – We have a small session in the morning, nothing too strenuous. Back to Gaz Baz’s for Fifa 13, I have to play with Swansea because they haven’t added me to City yet. My finishing is 90 though, so at least that is realistic. Tevez is round too and we try and get him to play – but he doesn’t want to get off the sofa. Really excited for tomorrow as I’m rooming with our skipper Vinny, he’ll put in a good word for me I’m sure.

Saturday – Match day. After a hard week in training I’m delighted to be selected for the Villa match, even though it is only on the bench. We have been assured by the FA that we’re going to get two pens – if and when we get them, we’ve been told to keep calm and carry on. We are 5-0 up when I come on in the 76th minute, and I’m looking to get on the score sheet. Geoff Shreeves, in the post match interview, holds no punches as he asks ‘So Scott, is there any coincidence in the fact that City stopped scoring as soon as you came on?’ Later I tweet “Classic Shreevesy! #Banter”

Sunday – After a tough week a relaxing day at home is needed, I am very excited to go back into training next week, I really feel like my time at City couldn’t have got off to a better start.
