Leeds Student was fortunate enough to attend the ‘clothes-gasm’ which was the 7th annual Leeds Fashion Show, ‘Dress Me Beautiful’, which was held at Leeds’ grand Town Hall. The LFS is a creative non- profit organisation helping bridge the gap between education and the fashion industry. It was established as a way for emerging designers, boutiques, models and fashion students to showcase their designs and talent before an audience of style experts, retail consumers and the media.
This year’s event was sponsored by Trinity Leeds, our soon-to-be ultimate shopping mecca, which is home to the brand spanking new Topshop (need I say more?). The event showcased collections from 26 established and emerging designers, who all showed strong potential- likely to be rubbing shoulders with the industry’s top designers any day now. Not just that, the fierce models who stormed the catwalk would have made Tyra proud.
Personal favourite from the show included Lisa Jayne Dunn whose collection featured gorgeous lace minis and maxis, tweed skirts, coat-style dresses, chic hooded tops and dresses. Elsewhere, take note, her fashionable fitted skirt suits showed excellent graduate job interview outfit potential….
Strong, too, was the vibrant collection from Agwein Reid’s line: baby doll, sheer and metallic and short shorts. Alessandra Bersan was a hit, with a colourful collection of clashing prints, bright red trouser suits and curve-hugging dresses.
Not forgotten, there was something for the fellas too, courtesy of Accent. The collection included bow ties (its Bond season after all), chunky knits, camouflage and parker coats. The weird but wonderful came in the form of leather hooded scarves.
