Leeds Uni can be very proud of its rowers, over the summer they raced at Henley, the first Leeds crew to do so in 50 years. This year they have finally had the chance to prove themselves in Varsity by crushing the Met.
Traditionally Met don’t challenge the Uni to rowing, maybe it should have stayed this way.
The challenge they put forward was a 2000m indoor race with eight participants, four men and four women.
The Uni wasted no time in doing trials, making sure they picked only the best of the best with specialist sprint training sessions going on the week before.
The dedication and hard work payed off for the home side. They beat the Met by 39 seconds. The last Uni woman finishing as the final Met rower was strapping in.
This was a decisive win for the Boat Club and they plan on taking their confidence in this win on to BUCS and beyond.
