Liam Gallagher parts with his parka as part of his campaign to help the homeless

Liam Gallagher is rarely seen without his zipped up parka, whether he’s swaying along to his Oasis back catalogue on stage or slating his brother Noel on screen.

This year, Gallagher is parting with his signature jacket— and he’s urging you to join him. In collaboration with UK-based charities Centrepoint, Shelter, ICHH and Aberdeen Cyrenians, the campaign asks for fans across the UK and Ireland to donate a coat to the cause in order to keep the homeless warm through the winter season.

Homelessness is an ongoing problem across the UK, with a 165% increase in rough-sleepers in the last eight years. Not only is this isolating and uncomfortable, it is also unsafe: according to the national charity Crisis, homeless people are almost 17 times more likely to have been victims of violence. The ‘Part with your Parka’ campaign, which includes a Facebook fundraiser, is a necessary effort to alleviate this issue.

In exchange, those who donate will be in for a chance to win a pair of tickets to one of his upcoming sold-out shows, which will include a meet-and-greet slot with the singer himself. Though Gallagher is not making a Leeds appearance, he will be performing in Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool later this month.
