The Magic Gang are set to take Hebden Bridge’s beloved Trades Club next week, with the promise of new songs under their belt.
Following the release of their self-titled debut album last year, The Magic Gang toured relentlessly before essentially falling off the face of the earth a little bit. With a handful of performances over the last year, the band found themselves in “’between two albums’ purgatory’. However, with whispers of this allusive second album becoming more frequent, the Brighton four-piece embark upon a select few shows in some unexpected places. Delivering their raucous, yet lovelorn indie rock to Hebden Bridge’s prestigious Trades Club, that distinctly The Magic Gang shaped gap in our lives is set to be filled perfectly next week.
The promise of a second album on the horizon perhaps indicates that the future is only going to see the band’s devoted fanbase grow – seeing the band at the ‘hippest venue in the North’, standing at only 200 capacity, is an opportunity that will soon be rare.
The Magic Gang’s sound is undoubtedly distinctive; in an era when indie rock appears to be dying, their refreshing, thoughtful sounds are effortlessly charming – perhaps to blame for the love they have amassed.
Taking the enigmatic Leeds based unit Treeboy & Arc along for the ride with them, it’s safe to say that Hebden Bridge is in for a treat when they take over the Trades Club’ next Thursday.
