The Best Student Job in the World? Check out Sipsmith’s Gin-ternships

Drinking gin, posting on Facebook and Instagram about how much you love gin, wishing you could have free gin, talking, writing and thinking about gin… imagine if you could be paid for something you already love doing?

If this a scarily accurate description of you, read on. The Sipsmith Student Brand Ambassador (SBA) Program is about to go down as the most sought-after student side hustle of them all.

London-based gin brand Sipsmith (the original small batch crafter of gin) is continuing its SBA Program after 3 successful years, initially launching in 2016 with just five lucky ambassadors in the capital. Sipsmith will run its ginternships across 21 universities around the UK, including Leeds.

The SBA role includes helping to ‘establish Sipsmith as the aspirational gin of choice’. You must be Sipsmith savvy, enthusiastic (have you ever met a student not enthusiastic about drinking?), know your city and have top-notch teamwork skills. Social media sharing, brainstorming ideas and mystery shopping while expensing G&T’s (what a chore) are also on the list of responsibilities. Due to all of this, Sipsmith reckon their SBA program is the ‘most empowered student program in the spirits industry’.

To get a taste of what you might get up to on your gin-ternship, three of this year’s ambassadors in Leeds organised an event in The Domino Club (a swanky underground jazz bar in the Grand Arcade) and collaborated with the Cocktail Society at The Watermark bar, as well as doing various samplings, Master Classes at Lazy Lounge and social media activities. It’s a hard life, right?

As part of the internship, you also get a chance to be on Sipsmith’s summer events team, taking you to festivals in the Gin Palace, a cocktail bar which visits hotspots from Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park to The Big Festival and Wilderness (yes, it’s as good as it sounds).

There’s a chance to move up the Sipsmith ladder too, as previous ambassadors have even gone on to join the Sipsmith team full-time, such as Adam, who is now Sipsmith’s On-Trade Account Manager and previously the Minister of Fun. Five others have also secured full time roles at head office.

‘It really is a great company to work for, you get paid in cash and gin!’ raves Evie, one of this year’s Leeds Sipsmith Brand Ambassadors.

Andrea, one of the original five Brand Ambassador’s from London, reflects ‘Being a student brand ambassador for Sipsmith in 2016 was an immensely lovely experience – a great excuse to drink some fancy, tasty gin but also to meet some wonderful people and get some good talking points for your CV. 10/10 would recommend.’

If this all sounds like the big break you’ve been waiting for, not to mention a tasty CV addition under digital marketing experience, then you’ve got until 28th June 2019 to secure your spot.

Just send your CV along with something that captures why you’re perfect for this role to Jessy@sipsmith.com with the subject line: ‘The Best Student Job – [your name, your Uni]’. This could be a video, a picture/ your best Instagram’s, a message in a bottle… just tell the team why you’re the best person for the job, making sure it takes no more than two minutes to digest.

Let the fun beGIN…
