Emily Burns Entrances The Leadmill, 22.04.19

Emily Burns was just a little ‘Too Cool’ performing at Café Totem in Sheffield. Playing to a small but dedicated crowd of fans, she truly showcased her talent and sounded amazing!

Stood amongst a backdrop of purple lights, Emily was only one step away from the front row of the audience. Performing alongside her was her friend, producer and keys player Graeme, who gave the stage added dynamics by allowing for interactions between the two of them. With some solo acoustic numbers stripped back to just guitar and vocals, the appreciative audience remained captivated throughout and were money than happy to join in at the request of Emily.

Having released her debut EP Seven Scenes from the Same Summer last year, Emily performed the full EP as well as some unreleased songs. It truly felt as though it was a private concert with the intimate nature of the venue. Emily switched between electric and acoustic guitar and alongside backing from Graeme this kept the set engaging and varied.

What was telling of the quality of the performance was the ability of Emily to bring energy to a room that was quite so intimate. Another benefit of catching an act playing in a small venue is the chance to meet them after the gig and a long line formed to meet Emily after she stepped off stage! Café Totem is a brilliant venue to catch emerging acts and Emily Burns falls into that category perfectly. Keep an eye out for this artist, as this is just the beginning for Emily Burns!
