Hey Upper East Siders, XOXO Gossip Girl… might be getting a reboot!
Those of us who grew up watching Gossip Girl, will remember sitting around the group tables at school or college, avidly discussing last night’s episode and that all important question: who is Gossip Girl? Not many could have possibly guessed that it would be – spoiler alert – lonely boy Dan Humphreys. And who would have thought Penn Badgley would return to our screens as the sexy stalker, Joe Goldberg, in Netflix’s original You!
Gossip Girl has always been a much-loved fan favourite from its first season, released back in 2007, and long after its last episode release in 2012. If you have been living under a rock and don’t know what Gossip Girl is, the show follows the lives of privileged teens living on the Upper East Side of New York, with their lives and secrets dictated by a ruthless anonymous blogger who goes by the name “Gossip Girl”. So, when Mark Pedowitze, the president of The CW, discussed the possibility of a reboot last week at the Television Critics Association awards, fans have been clamouring at the thought of a new season of the hit teen drama. However, even the discussion has fans divided.
Some fans are definitely excited by the possibility of a reboot, even giving their own ideas on what the show should be about:

While a reboot may seem likely to happen, Mark Pedowitz has said that:
“There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet”. I don’t know what it would be and a lot is up to Warner Bros. and the executive producers Josh [Schwartz] and Steph [Savage], ’cause you don’t want to do anything without them.”
I think we can all agree that it would have to be something pretty spectacular to top the last 6 seasons. It would mean bringing the entire original cast back together, which as much as we would love, Gossip Girl finished with a pretty solid ending, not leaving much to the imagination. That being said, I think we all want to know if Serena, Dan, Blair and Chuck are still married to each other, whether Nate ever got the nice girl he deserved and whether little Jenny became a famous fashion designer? I guess for now we can only wait and see if our questions (and prayers), will be answered.
