French Bossa Nova cover band Nouvelle Vague have been around for a while—15 years to be exact—and are gearing up for an international tour bringing their most iconic songs around the world. Their latest live production finds the band returning to its roots: an acoustic guitar, a few keyboards, a smattering of ambience, and two singers (Mélanie Pain, Elodie Frégé, or Phoebe Killdeer), who interpret the band’s iconic songs.
February 15th also sees the release of their album Curiosities, a collection of rare out-of-print songs released throughout their career. The video for the lead single, ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’, is out today, a week from the album’s release.
Simple and understated, the video features singers Pain and Frégé on stage performing the songs, artfully shot. Much like their style of cover music, it’s no-frills, but that’s exactly the point.
