The Fashion Awards are hosted by the British Fashion Council, and this year are in partnership with Swarovski. The ceremony will go ahead on December 10th at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The nominees for the awards have been revealed, with new comers and previous nominees making appearances among the names on the cards. Among the contenders are Gucci and Off-White for Brand of the Year, as well as Winnie Harlow and newcomer Adut Akech for Model of the Year. Despite facing controversy since his Louis Vuitton debut, Virgil Abloh has been nominated for Designer of the Year.
The awards will also pay homage to emerging talent in both menswear and womenswear, with names like Rejina Pyo and Phoebe English making an appearance on the list. The awards show will be raising funds for the British Fashion Council’s initiatives the BFC Education Foundation and BFC Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, with aims to help spearhead the development, education and funding of future fashion talent.
The nominations come after an announcement made earlier this month by the BFC that there will be a new category in the programme. 100 designers, creative directors, models, digital influencers, make-up artists and others will get recognition in the new category New Wave: Creatives. This category will celebrate young creatives and trailblazers, a first in the history of the Fashion Awards.
The full list of nominees can be found on the official website of the fashion awards (http://www.fashionawards.com/2018-Nominees)
