Iconic nineties UK dance group Underworld come to Manchester’s Store Street for the 2018 program of Warehouse Project this Friday November 2nd. The night comes as part of the end of Store Street series, as next year WHP are leaving the venue for pastures new.
Famous for hits such as ‘Cowgirl’, ‘Pearl’s Girl’ and the Trainspotting classic ‘Born Slippy (Nuxx)’, the band have had a prolific career spanning several decades and musical genres, from dance music staples like techno and breakbeat, to more experimental and ambient. After reforming to a more dance orientated act in 1993, Underworld (Mk2) have released seven albums, from the critically acclaimed dubnobasswithmyheadman in 1994 to Barbara Barbara, We Face A Shining Future.
Earlier this year, founding members Karl Hyde and Rick Smith teamed up with veteran rocker Iggy Pop and released the Teatime Dun Encounters EP. The duo, known for dynamic live performances, will play at Manchester’s Warehouse Project for the first time, with support on the night from Dense & Pika, Space Dimension Controller, Lone and WHP resident Krysko. They are doing their first British performance (outside London) since summer 2016.
Underworld are one of the most influential acts to come out of the UK in the past few decades, and a rare chance to see them play live is a fitting part of WHP’s final chapter at Store Street.
