Leeds’ Biggest Fashion Event Returns

The biggest fashion event in Leeds is back in February.

Every year Leeds Raise and Give society put together a catwalk fashion show in aid of charity. For its 11th year, the Leeds Rag Fashion Show – under the direction of Arabella Bowes and Tamika Hewitt – will be raising money for two charities: Pancreatic Cancer Research and Behind Closed Doors, a Yorkshire based domestic violence charity. All funds raised from the show will be donated to the two charities. Whether you’re passionate about fashion, performing arts or just want to do your bit for charity the show is a great thing to get involved with.

The LRFS committee for 2019 has been assembled, and this week they are holding castings for models to walk the runway. If you’re interested in auditioning to be a model, you can head down to the casting events on Tuesday 30th October and Thursday 1st November. The castings are casual drop in sessions, and everyone is encouraged to attend – no previous modelling experience is required. Last year the show won the Union’s Diversity and Inclusivity Award and this year’s committee are keen to follow suit – if you’re keen to try something new and be a part of an amazing cause all genders, ethnicities, shapes and sizes are encouraged to drop in to to castings.

The show is set to take place on 28th February 2019. If you don’t fancy modelling, tickets to watch the show will be available in due course and advertised around the union. In the meantime, preparations are underway to make the 11th show better than ever – now all that’s left is to wait eagerly for the release of this year’s theme, I have high hopes that it will be a good one.

Castings to be held:

30th October 5-8pm Leeds University Business School G.31
