Survey Names Leeds UK’s Third-Largest ‘Halloween Hotspot’

Leeds is renowned for the Otley Run, a fancy-dress pub crawl encompassing 16 different venues. But does the city’s love of dressing up extend to Halloween?

The money conveyor company ‘My Home Move’ has undertaken a public survey to determine the nation’s most halloween-friendly cities, with Leeds being named the UK’s third largest ‘Halloween Hotspot’.

42% of surveyed Leeds residents say that they welcome trick or treaters, and even take part in the festivities themselves. This leaves us ranking just beneath the 44% of people who enjoy a halloween event in Sheffield, and the 45% in Belfast.

The survey also determined the city most likely to get involved in fancy dress during Halloween- with 32% of people in Manchester and Cardiff saying they put on a scary costume for the festivities, leaving Leeds third place yet again; 31% of Leeds residents claim to dress up at Halloween.

This Halloween, Leeds looks set to live up to its ‘Halloween Hotspot’ title. Named below are just a few of the city’s most promising events:

‘Halloween at the Haunted Mill’, Canal Mills’ final Halloween event before its closure, takes place on Saturday 27th October and promises a night full of techno and house anthems. In accordance with the survey, fancy dress is also more than encouraged!

Also at Canal Mills, Halloween night will see a special spooky Bongo’s Bingo, followed by Sticky Feet’s Halloween Special, set to be jam-packed full of house anthems and great decorations.

There are also two Halloween events lined up at Projekt this year: one on the 27th October and one on Halloween night itself, the 31st (aptly named Halloween Part 1 and Part 2). Their lineup assures quality DJs and music, and fancy dress is again welcomed.

For those looking for a club-free Halloween celebration, there are plenty of other events running throughout October, such as at ‘The Great Escape Game’. This mixes an escape game with a themed bar experience where you have to find the cure for a zombie virus by making special cocktails, trying them all yourself, of course!

Given all this, and knowing the city’s track record, if you want an excuse to dress up and have a good time this Halloween then Leeds is absolutely the place to be!
