Mint Club have announced that they will be closing next year, in a heartfelt post on their Facebook page.

The club, situated just off New Briggate, were unable to renew their lease, due to redevelopments in the surrounding area.

This news comes only weeks after Canal Mills announced that they will be closing their doors for good on New Year’s Eve.

“It has been a big one to swallow for all of us here and there is only one way to go. In style.”

Mint Club has been entertaining students for over 20 years, and voiced their intentions to end their reign with a bang. Posting on Facebook, the official Mint Club page said: “It has been a big one to swallow for all of us here and there is only one way to go. In style.” They promised to finish on a series of special shows, celebrating two decades’ worth of club nights.

With Mint Festival this weekend, and with hints at Mint Warehouse getting renovated soon, the Mint brand is set to continue on after Mint Club’s closure.

The club posted their final lineup on the Facebook page.
