After the phenomenal success of our first ever showcase in 2017, Vertical Fitness are moving out of the Riley and holding a bigger, better event for 2018! We’re ending the year with a glorious showcase of talent, in a cabaret showcase raising money for Basis Yorkshire.
Vertical Fitness have only reached new heights this year; performing in dance shows throughout the year, nearly doubling in membership size, and hosting the first ever hoop performance in an LUU Dance Show. Now, in honour of Basis Yorkshire, Vertical Fitness are hosting one of this year’s biggest events! On Saturday 28th April, from 7pm, the Refectory will be transformed into Gatsby parlour, for an evening of talent, music, and dancing. Our members will be showcasing their talent through a variety of pole and aerial hoop performances to classic tunes, some performed live by LUU Big Band. Vertical Fitness will also be joined by LUU Swing Soc who will be performing some energetic jazz and swing routines.. There will be wine on the tables and canapes available throughout the night (all included in the price of your ticket!). The night will end with a DJ set with space cleared for everyone to get involved with swing dancing.
The best bit? Tickets are only £10! Vertical Fitness is all about inclusivity and we want everyone to be able to enjoy this incredible evening. All profits will be heading straight to Basis Yorkshire to enable them to continue their work with vulnerable women in Leeds.
This is the second year Vertical Fitness have worked with, and been inspired, by the incredible Basis Yorkshire. The small Leeds based charity has made waves in the community, from their incredible work with vulnerable women and young girls. Basis Yorkshire provide support and information to young girls who are victims of Child Sexual Exploitation, and the female Sex Workers who work in the Leeds Managed Area. Despite the stereotypes around pole dancing, which unfortunately led to other charities rejecting our fundraising support, Basis have only ever been supportive and down-right jubilant about our partnership. Over two years we have raised over £2000 for Basis Yorkshire, and, as always, it is a delight to work with such an amazing team. Hopefully, this event will help us raise over £3000.
So put on your best dress – Gatsby attire is encouraged but not required – and come join us for an evening of dancing!
