Arsene Wenger has announced he is set to leave Arsenal at the end of this season, the club he has been manager of for nearly 22 years. For many university students who are Arsenal fans, they have known no other manager in their lifetime.
He has won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups, and managed the infamous ‘Invincibles’, who went 38 league games without defeat in 2003-4. Recently, some fans have turned against him after Arsenal began to win fewer trophies and the club fell out of finishing in the top four.
In a statement on the club’s website, Arsene said ‘I am grateful for the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years. To all the Arsenal lovers, take care of the values of the club.’
Arsenal will appoint a successor ‘as soon as possible.’
