Staying Occupied and Avoiding Boredom Over Easter

You may have been extremely excited in the days leading up to this one-month Easter break only to find that the excitement has died down, you’re starting to feel the boredom settle in and you are doing nothing but lying in bed at home. To avoid boredom at home and stay occupied, I have listed a few suggestions of activities you could try out.

 1. Take up a new sport

This can be one that is as rigorous as mountain biking or as relaxing as yoga. There are so many different sports that you can try, whether it’s by yourself or with a group of friends. Additionally, while playing sports, you are able to keep fit and cure boredom at the same time. It’s a win-win situation!

 2. Start a new book

Yes, a book. I know this sounds extremely boring to some, but it can actually be a relaxing and stress-relieving activity. You do not necessarily have to read a book that’s incredibly dense, instead you may opt for more light-hearted fictions to temporarily escape reality or self-help books that could potentially resolve any worries you might carry. Reading is also a good way to pass time as you emerge yourself in the book.

3. Watch documentaries

TV shows and movies may be what you mostly watch, but perhaps you could try watching a documentary this Easter break. Documentaries do not necessarily have to be scientific. When there’s one on almost any topic you can think of, it will not be difficult to find one that will interest you. You never know, it might turn out to be an enlightening and mind-opening experience.

 4. Try out new recipes

For those who are interested in cooking, now is a good time for you to cook or bake to your heart’s content. If there were any new recipes you have been itching to try, keep yourself occupied by testing them out. You can make it even more fun by inviting your friends and cooking together. Of course, also enjoy the most satisfying part of the whole process, eating it!

 5. Study?

With the exam period approaching, you may want to start studying for them over your Easter break. Or perhaps, to make the most of your time, it is advisable to plan out and write up your revision timetable, setting aside time for different modules and topics as well as study breaks. It may seem like a while away but May will come by sooner than you think!
