The boss of Parklife Festival in Manchester is calling for the festival weekend to be a bank holiday.
He argues that it would be better for the economy to spread out the May bank holidays, so that the late-May holiday could be moved to June.
Changing the date would mean the 70,000 Parklife attendees would have Monday morning off to recover from the weekend’s antics.
Let’s make the Monday after @Parklifefest a Bank Holiday!
After a bit of “rewording” Parliament have now published it on their website.
Please click on the below and sign the petition. We want you to Parklife to the max #Parklife18 #BankHoliday https://t.co/mHirH2B0kX— Sacha Lord (@Sacha_whp) March 18, 2018
The petition needs 10,000 signatures to receive a formal response from Parliament, or 100,000 to have it debated.
2,000 people have signed the petition so far- if you’re heading to the festival and fancy the next day off to nurse your post-festival blues, be sure to add your name to the list.
If you’re yet to nab a Parklife ticket then head over to their site to get yours now. They’re currently priced at £119.50 for the weekend or £65 for a day pass but they’re set to increase today, so get on it!
VIP packages are also available, for which Parklife have made extensive upgrades.
Within the ‘VIP Colonnade’ you’ll find La Discotheque, The Heaton pub, amongst many other glamourous amenities such as phone charging, luxury bathrooms, eateries and secret stages.
They recently announced a killer line-up with The XX and Liam Gallagher as headliners, plus other big names such as Lorde, Skepta, Jessie Ware, Annie Mac and J Hus.
Check out the full line-up in their jazzy video, released in January:
