The Key to Productivity Over Easter

Exams are looming and deadlines are coming thick and fast. But before they are officially upon us, we have the much needed Easter holidays. However, staying productive over this period and attempting to avoid the endless distractions that home offers can be really tricky. Easter break always seems to fly by. Making time for some sort of social life with friends and family, revision and taking a well-deserved rest to recharge can seem near impossible. So until some incredible genius miraculously finds a way to give us more time in a day, here are some top tips for you to turn your days around.

Get your beauty sleep

Try to avoid binge watching that new Netflix series one night. Save it as a reward for when you have got all your work done. With a decent amount of sleep you will feel much better and ready to face the day after 8 hours of sleep rather than 4.

Turn off distractions

This can be the most difficult part! Turning off notifications on Facebook or turning your phone off will immediately transform your productivity. Cutting out these distractions will prevent you from checking your social media every 30 seconds.

Keep being positive

It is very easy to become unproductive when you have little faith will finish something or you won’t do well. If you turn your ‘I can’t’ into ‘I can’ then you will be much happier and stay positive. The simple ways of changing the way you think will keep you motivated and transform your mindset.

Stay Hydrated

It is essential to drink plenty of water. If you are dehydrated you will have less energy, so keep drinking to stay productive. Water will also prevent headaches on top of all its health benefits.

Take a minute

Being productive does not mean that you have to work for every single minute in the day. Breaks will help you stay motivated, and give your mind a rest. It is healthy to take a break, watch some TV, exercise, or even take a day off once in a while; this will help prevent tiredness and boredom whilst keeping you enthusiastic.

Eat the most important meal of the day

Try not to skip breakfast. Food is your friend, giving you vital energy and brainpower. It will also wake you up and speed up your metabolism. Make sure you take time out of your day to eat lunch and dinner too. I think it is really important to take yourself away from your work to eat for a well-deserved break.

Make Lists

Making lists will become your new best friend. Plan what you want to get done and write your list that way you have something to guide you. In addition, it is so satisfying when you can tick something off the list.

Reward Yourself

Remember to reward yourself when you achieve everything you wanted to do. Finishing the assignment is a reward in itself. However, you deserve to go out for a drink with friends or to treat yourself to a relaxing evening.

Follow a morning routine

It goes without saying that sticking to a morning routine is key to a productive day. It sets you up for a good day and helps put you in a good mindset. Once you have established a routine it will become natural.

Learn To Prioritise

Working out what is important is essential to being productive. Is re-watching all 6 seasons of Gossip Girl for the third time really necessary? Reality check! Work for a couple of hours and then treat yourself to an episode. It is all about balance and moderation.
