Kirkstall Brewery halls of residence were evacuated yesterday, as West Yorkshire Police responded to information about the possibility of firearms being on the site.
The Leeds Beckett student accommodation houses about 800 students, who were evacuated at 2pm on Thursday 8th February, as bomb disposal experts were called in.
A police spokesman said that: “a number of items were found in a flat including what appeared to be a grenade-type device.”
However, army specialists “confirmed it was an imitation.”
In addition, two deactivated firearms were discovered.
A 19-year old man was arrested in Scunthorpe in relation to the incident, but has been released under investigation.
Several Leeds Beckett university students took to Twitter to remark on the apparent bomb threat. The police are also now working with the university to ensure students there is no ongoing risk at the halls of residence.

A spokesperson for Leeds Beckett University said: “a small number of students were evacuated as a precaution and students were able to return yesterday evening.”
